My my My my

It is extremely important that you start to prepare both physically and mentally for the upcoming season.  The hard work you put in now will pay big dividends when the season begins.  The three areas that you all need to stay focused on are; AcademicsStrength and Cardio Training, and Social Life.  The last is very important, as failure to stay out of trouble will negate the first two.  Do not risk your lacrosse future with a careless decision.  Stay safe and look out for each other.

I pride myself on being honest, loyal, and hard working.  Our goal this year is to develop our program into the program that every other programs look up to.  To do that, we must focus on improving our fundamentals and improving our program's image.    Wall ball, shooting, strength training, and becoming students of the game will decrease the amount of time it takes us to reach our goal on the field.  Getting good grades, helping out in the community, and volunteering your time with the youth program will create a bond with the town that will be second to none.  Never be satisfied with just one day of hard work, or one week, or one game.  Stay hungry, learn to want to out work your opponents at every facet of the game.  Do the right thing all the time.  My staff will work extremely hard to put you all in positions to be successful. Everyone will have an equal opportunity to earn playing time.  I will always have your best interest in mind and my door is always open to talk.  All I ask for is your best effort, all the time.

Expectations for Newtown Lacrosse Players

ATTITUDE: Always be positive. It is extremely important for you to have the right mindset going into the season.  Recognize that it is going to require a lot of hard work to accomplish our goals.  Always stay positive with your teammates and yourself.  Be a leader. Leaders look at how things can be done, not why they can't be done. They have an "I will not be denied" attitude. Bad attitudes will not be tolerated.

COMMITMENT:  By being a member of this team, you must be 100% committed to your team, your sport, and yourself. Good sportsmanship to your opponents, coaches, and teammates is expected.  You will show up on time to practices and games mentally and physically prepared to help the team be successful. Be committed to setting good examples on and off the field. Working hard in the classroom and helping out in the community will become second nature to you. The Newtown High School Code of Conduct is to be adhered to at all times. No exceptions.

HARD WORK:  Every person who wants to be a Newtown lacrosse player must understand that there will be a lot of hard work involved.  There will be new offensive and defensive concepts to learn.  Practices will be more up-tempo and expectations in practice will be higher.  Conditioning and mental preparation will be the major focuses.

EFFORT:  You must put forth the best effort to improve yourself as a person, a teammate, and as a lacrosse player.  Dogging it at will not be tolerated.  This game is only played one way and that is with passion.  Play as hard as you can for as long as you can.  There is a funny thing about playing hard all the time.  YOU WIN A LOT!!!

“There are only two options regarding commitment.  You’re either IN or you’re OUT.

There is no such thing as life in-between.”
